The PRIIME Network supports the development of an expanded and representative primary care data system, the inclusion of a representative and diverse group of interest holders, and the establishment of responsive and representative primary care research priorities.

Representative and Accurate Data System
Our primary care data system is part of a larger, pan-Canadian data platform known as the Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN).
CPCSSN extracts de-identified patient data from the electronic medical records of family physician practicesacross Canada. It applies cleaning, coding, and standardization algorithms to transform raw electronic medical record data into meaningful information for chronic disease surveillance, quality improvement and research.

We are working with Digital Health Services to expand the number of NL family physicians and patientscaptured in the CPCSSN database. We are also exploring how we can add patient-reported experience and outcome measures and information on social determinants of health to the database.
Representative and Diverse Interest Holders
We aim to ensure all primary care research has representation from these interest holder groups. Our work is to connect people who want to do research to others within each of these interest holder groups. Below you’ll find our initial interest holder map that we will be expanding. Please contact our research manager (priime@mun.ca) if you are interested in engaging with these interest holder groups.

Representative and Responsive Priorities
The PRIME leadership committee selected two priority topic areas for the network in the Fall of 2022: Indigenous health (a pan-Canadian priority area and Team-based Primary Care (a provincial topic of importance).
